Today we reviewed/practiced ser + participio, estar + participio, se pasivo and se impersonal before taking the grammar quiz.

We then read the articles on pages 14/16.

Today after watching Adrian's and Aurelia's videos we practice vocabulary through "Pasa la Palabra".

We then practice with the Voz pasiva, both ser+participio and se pasivo.

We reviewed our notes on Puerto Rico and then held a debate about the future of Puerto Rico, whether it should remain an ELA, become the 51st state, or become an independent country.

We took notes on Estar + participio (which will also be on the vocabulary quiz next class.)

Today we talked about the years/events that probably impacted Mexican immigration to the United States.

Then we split into pairs and took notes on se impersonal y se pasivo. We did practice activities with each.

We then learned about Puerto Rico through notes and articles from the Lectura packet (pgs. 9-11).

Finally, we played baseball to review the notes on Puerto Rico.

Today we practiced 'la voz pasiva' through translation practice and 3 truths and a lie. We then talked about the history of Mexico, leading up to the "Tratado de Guadalupe".

Tarea:

Timeline - in small groups divide the years for creating a Google presentation that shows the timeline of Mexican history, based on this PBS website.

*Your group should share the presentation within the group as well as with Sra. Anderson.

On each slide the corresponds with one of the years include:
   año
   una descripción que usa la voz pasiva y/o 'se' impersonal.
   vocabulario nuevo
   un gráfico

el 8 de abril

Today we began our unit on immigration. Students shared what they had written in the Antes de Empezar packet (*this is for a grade so be sure to show Sra. Anderson if you were absent!)

We then looked at where our ancestors came from and plotted it on a world map.

We then watched a video called "30 Days", which shows the perspective for one immigrant family.

Tarea:

1. Create an escudo familiar (link is on Moodle.) This should be done completely in Spanish. Please print it and bring it to class next time.

2. Pick up the reading on "La Presencia de Latinos en EEUU" and read and answer questions.

Today we went through the expectations for the Interpersonal conversation before doing a practice round.

Students were offered the option of taking an interpretive task to add to the proficiency task portion of their grade.

Finally, students worked on a packet asking about family history and thoughts on immigration. (Pick up packet and new vocabulary list for Unit 7).

Tarea:

Complete the packet and write 10 sentences with the new verbs on the last page of the packet. Also, fill in the cognate section.
